Charlotte and York County
Headwaters Filtration Co starts with a free water assessment by phone, then installs the right whole-home system for your house, on either side of the state line. Plain answers, no scare tactics, and a local team that answers the phone.
Most water problems in Charlotte and York County come down to one of these three. Each one is treated differently, which is why the assessment comes first.
Charlotte Water adds chlorine at its Franklin, Dukes and Vest plants, and its 2025 report lists an average residual of 1.04 ppm. Rock Hill, which also supplies Fort Mill, Tega Cay and much of York County, treats with chlorine and chlorine dioxide.
Charlotte draws from Mountain Island Lake and Lake Norman, and Rock Hill from intakes on Lake Wylie and the Catawba River. Surface water is treated at the plant, then travels miles of pipe to reach your tap.
When chlorine meets natural organic matter it forms trihalomethanes. Rock Hill's 2025 report lists a highest running annual average of 52 ppb against a federal limit of 80, within the standard and still in the glass.
Chlorine, chloramine and PFAS
You can usually taste it.
Most people cannot.
Nobody can.
Which is why the assessment starts with what your utility publishes about Charlotte and York County water, not a guess.

A five to ten minute phone call. On city water we go through the report your utility publishes; on a well we go through what you are seeing at the taps. Then you get the system we would put in and the exact price, in writing. The assessment is free.
The number we put in writing is the number. $2,799 is for a standard city-water installation, and anything unusual about your house is priced in writing before any work starts.
Wherever the water enters the house, usually a basement, a utility room or a garage.
Enough floor for the tanks plus room to open the cabinet lid and get to the bypass.
Top up the cabinet when it runs low. That is the whole routine, and the setup notes cover it.
